Florida Man Hears an Intruder and Shoots His Wife

What's up, sheepdogs? Ryan here with Tampa Carry

What would you do if you heard a noise in your home?

Recently a man in Stuart, Florida. Heard a strange noise outside of his bedroom door. He immediately jumped out of bed, grabbed his home defense pistol, and opened fire. Unfortunately, this man soon discovered that it was not an intruder inside of his home it was his 8-month pregnant wife.

Thankfully doctors were able to save the baby's life, who is right now in critical condition. However, the wife was not so lucky.

Just because you think something is happening, doesn't mean that it is. Before using a firearm in personal defense it is critical that you identify whom the attacker is before pressing the trigger.

One of the primary rules of using a firearm in home defense is that we need to identify exactly who the person is that we are going to shoot, which is why I'm such a big proponent of having a weapon light mounted on your gun.

How would you feel if you accidentally killed a loved one because you lacked the proper training and equipment to use a firearm in home defense?

It's also important to utilize commands in a home defense situation. Let's go back to the story, the man hears a strange sound in the middle of the night. He grabs his home defense firearm, takes a position of cover behind the bed, and yells "I have a gun, get out of my house" At this point one of two things is going to happen. If it's a burglar they are probably going to leave, because nobody wants to get shot. However, if it's a family member they are going to tell you who they are.

When people lack a basic understanding of shooting fundamentals and home defense fundamentals, they make stupid decisions like this in the heat of the moment that will change their lives forever. Just imagine, your wife is dead and now you have two raise two children on your own knowing that you are the reason they don't have a mother.

One day this guy is going to have to explain to his children that he killed their mother. All because he lacked the proper training.

Many years ago, I heard this story of a 17-year-old girl who decided to sneak out of the house and go to a party. As she was sneaking back into the home at 3:00 in the morning, the alarm went off. This girl didn't want to get yelled at by her dad, so she decided to hide in the closet. The father comes out of the bedroom with his shotgun, hears something in the closet, and decides to shoot through the wall, killing his daughter.

This is another perfect example, where if this man would have just yelled some simple commands, like, "I have a gun and I'm going to shoot," it would have saved his kid's life. We need to slow down in these types of situations and make sure we know what's happening before we just press that trigger. Because once you press the trigger, your life is going to change forever.

This is a really sad story for this family, for the woman who passed away. It's a great learning opportunity for us. So don't wait until it's too late to get the proper training to develop the right plan for you and your family to keep you guys safe. Guns are very dangerous if used negligently and maliciously. One of the ways they can be used negligently is by not having the proper knowledge of what you're going to do and what you're not going to do with that gun.

That's why I create all these YouTube videos. I don't just do this for fun. This is a lot of work. I create these videos to educate you guys on exactly what you're supposed to do. And that's also why I have my training, like when to use a firearm in home defense, so that you can figure out exactly what has to happen before you are legally allowed to use a gun to defend yourself inside of a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle within the state of Florida.

That's all I have for today. So until next time keep training and stay safe...
