7 years, in the state of Florida and $42 to renew your permit after that.

How do I get a concealed carry permit in Florida?

To meet the requirements for obtaining a concealed weapons permit in Florida, you need to be 21 years or older, you must demonstrate competency with a firearm, and you must currently live in the United States. There are also a number of concealed carry rules and legal requirements a person must meet to obtain a license. Felons and other habitual criminal offenders will be denied a concealed permit. You can take this state-sponsored questionnaire to check your Florida Concealed Weapons License eligibility before applying.

How do I renew my Florida concealed weapons permit before it expires?

Once you’ve obtained your Florida concealed gun license, it’s easy to renew. Roughly three months before the expiration of your license, the Florida Department of Agriculture will mail you a renewal notice, a renewal application, and full instructions on the renewal process. You can also renew your florida concealed weapons license online, at a regional office, or at an authorized tax collector’s office.

It’s important to keep in mind that the renewal process is ultimately your responsibility. While it’s the DFAC’s policy to mail renewal notices to all license owners, these notices don’t always show up on time, or at all. It’s also not unusual for the state to mail renewal notices to old addresses. If your permit expired and you didn’t receive a notice, or you’ve moved since obtaining your license, make sure you update your address.

The easiest way to renew your concealed carry permit is through the Florida Department of Agriculture website. In addition to any updated information, you’ll also need your current license number, and a recent color photo. This photo cannot be from your driver’s license or passport.

Can I still renew my Florida concealed weapons license if it has expired?

If your concealed weapons license expires, you can still renew it, as long as it hasn’t been expired for longer than 180 days. The state charges a late fee of $15, in addition to the renewal license fee. If your license has been expired longer than 180 days, you’ll need to start the whole process over again apply for a new permit.

Is my concealed carry permit valid outside the state of Florida?

The state’s concealed carry rules allow you to keep a valid concealed carry permit, even if you move out of Florida. But you need to change your status from “resident” to “non-resident.” I strongly recommend taking the necessary steps for keeping your license valid, because a Florida concealed weapons permit is reciprocally recognized by many other states.

Keep in mind, the seven-year expiration date still applies, whether or not you’re a Florida resident, so it’s important to stay on top of renewals. You’ll also want to check on regulations in the state where you currently live before renewing.

That's all I have for today. So until next time keep training and stay safe...
